Fellows Webinar: "End-of-Life Decisions and the Law"
Free Fellows Webinar: "End-of-Life Decisions and the Law: The biggest life-and-death decision of your life...will be made by someone else"
Featuring:
Susan P. Shapiro
Research Professor, American Bar Foundation
in conversation with
Tony Patterson, Jr., JD
Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel,
Kalispell Regional Healthcare
A recent study found that 70% of Americans over age 60 who required medical decisions in the final days of life lacked capacity to make them. The likelihood that the biggest life-and-death decision of our lives will be made by someone else is, therefore, very real. In conversation with Tony Patterson, and drawing on her observations over three years of daily encounters between health care providers and family members of patients without decision-making capacity, Shapiro will describe the role and limitations of advance directives in end-of-life decision making.
