LEXINGTON, Va. – Thomas G. Slater, Jr., a partner in the Richmond law firm Hunton & Williams, was elected president of the Virginia Military Institute’s Board of Visitors at the board’s meeting on May 3.
Slater’s term begins July 1 when he will take the place of g. Gilmer Minor III, chairman of Owens & Minor Inc., a Richmond-based Fortune 500 distributor of medical and surgical supplies. Minor, a 1963 VMI graduate, was elected president of board three years ago and has been a member of the board since 2000.
Slater has been a member of the board since 2003 and has been active in VMI alumni organizations since his graduation.
