Missouri Life Fellow Ann K. Covington

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - Life Fellow Ann K. Covington will be the Speaker for the 2009 Zonta Women of Achievement Yellow Rose Luncheon on May 12. The luncheon is a special 10th anniversary celebration and proceeds will fund Zonta's Second Chance scholarships.

Ann K. Covington is former chief justice of the Missouri Supreme Court and she was the first woman appointed to the Missouri Supreme Court and the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District. Covington previously served as an assistant attorney general and was in private practice in Columbia. Since leaving the bench, she has practiced with the firm of Bryan Cave LLP.

Covington is a member of the American Law Institute, the American and Missouri Bar Associations, the Appellate Judges Conference of the Judicial Division of the American Bar Association and the American Judicature Society. She has served on the Board of the National Center for State Courts, as a member of the Advisory Committee on Evidence Rules of the Judicial Conference of the United States and as vice president of the Conference of Chief Justices of the United States.
