Michigan Fellow Julie I. Fershtman

Julie I. Fershtman has been named a Fellow of the American College of Equine Attorneys. Fershtman is the only Michigan attorney ever to receive this prestigious distinction.

The objectives of the ACEA include: to promote and participate in continuing legal education opportunities relating to the equine industry; to assist in promoting model legislation or rules and regulations in the equine industry; to act as a legal resource for parties promoting legislative initiatives affecting the equine industry; and to recognize professional achievement and outstanding contributions to the equine industry.

Active in Bar Association activities, Fershtman is Secretary of the State Bar of Michigan and immediate past Secretary of the Oakland County Bar Association. She is also a Trustee of the Michigan State Bar Foundation and a Vice Chair of a committee of the American Bar Association's Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section. She has been admitted to practice pro hac vice in 10 jurisdictions. Her third book, which she co-authored and co-edited, is scheduled for publication by the ABA in early 2009.
