Illinois Life Fellow Michael Pope

McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Michael Pope, a partner in the Trial Department, has been recognized by the publication Best Lawyers in America 2015 for his extraordinary work as a defense lawyer in the areas of Mass Tort Litigation and Class Action defense.  This recognition is given each year to only one lawyer in this specialty in the Chicago metropolitan area. 

Pope, a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law, is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers.  He is a past president of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, the International Association of Defense Counsel, and Lawyers for Civil Justice, a Washington, D.C. based coalition of in-house counsel and outside trial lawyers devoted to civil justice reform.  He also served for two years at the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada.  He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  He was the founder and first president of the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, which makes financial grants on behalf of the State of Illinois to providers of legal assistance to the poor throughout Illinois.  In 2012, he received the Alumni Merit Award from Northwestern University in recognition of his career contributions to the legal profession.
