Hon. Bernice B. Donald Elected President of the American Bar Foundation

The Honorable Bernice B. Donald will serve as President of the Board of the American Bar Foundation from September 1, 2012 through August 31, 2014.
In addition to her service at the American Bar Foundation, Judge Donald has served as a United States Circuit Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit since October 20, 2011. From 1995 to 2011, Judge Donald presided over the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee. She has also served as a Judge in United States Bankruptcy Court, W.D. Tennessee (1988-95), and as Judge in the General Sessions Criminal Court, Memphis (1982-88).
A member of numerous professional associations, Judge Donald served as Secretary of the American Bar Association from 2008 to 2011 and was one of the 2011 recipients of the ABA Spirit of Excellence Awards. She is Past- President of the Association for Women Attorneys and the National Association of Women Judges, and is a past member of the National Bankruptcy Conference. She received her B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Memphis.
