Summer Research Diversity Fellowship Sponsorship Opportunities and Acknowledgements

2010 Sponsorship Opportunities

We are currently reviewing applications for our 2010 Summer Research Diversity Fellowships in Law and Social Science for Undergraduates. This year, we have over 100 exceptional applicants from around the nation.

As you may know, the American Bar Foundation is the nation’s leading research institute for the empirical study of law. Every summer our prize-winning research faculty hosts internships, through the Summer Research Diversity Fellowship program, for four highly qualified undergraduates from diverse backgrounds who have expressed interest in a career in the law.

We invite you and your firm to join us in supporting the diversity initiative of the American Bar Foundation. A dozen law firms have participated in and supported this program over the past three summers, in which we raised over $80,000 in support of twelve summer interns. We hope that your firm will join this list of supporters by contributing to the 2010 Summer Research Diversity Fellowships.

The goal for this year’s initiative is to reach $100,000 in contributions raised for this program, which will support four Summer Research Fellows and will provide a modest contribution to an endowment earmarked for the Summer Diversity Fellowship program. There are several ways in which your firm can contribute and be recognized:

  • Leadership         $ 10,000
  • Partner               $   5,000
  • Benefactor         $   2,500
  • Patron                 $  2,000
  • Supporter           $  1,500
  • Contributor       $  1,000
  • Friend                 $  _____

For a Leadership level gift of $10,000, an intern will be designated the Your Firm Name Here Summer Research Fellow. All sponsoring firms will be invited to a recognition event where firm representatives will have a chance to interact with the four Summer Research Fellows. In addition, all contributing firms will be acknowledged in our Annual Report, our quarterly newsletter Researching Law, and on the ABF’s website.

Thank you for your consideration. If you would like more information about the Summer Fellowship Program or the American Bar Foundation, or if you would like to pledge your support to the program, please contact Tim Watson, Development Associate, at 312.988.6560 or .
