Judge M. Margaret McKeown, California Life Fellow, Awarded the 2022 American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the Ninth Circuit

Judge M. Margaret McKeown, California Life Fellow, was named as the 2022 American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the Ninth Circuit recipient. Judge MeKeown will receive the award during the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference July 17-21 in Big Sky, Montana.

The award is given out every year to a lawyer or judge whose life and practice display character and integrity, along with an ongoing dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession and the rule of law.

Judge McKeown was a White House Fellow and the first woman partner at Perkins Coie LLP in Seattle and Washington, DC before she joined the court in 1998. She was also the recipient of the ABA’s Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award. In addition to being a Life Fellow of the ABF, she serves on the board of the Teton Science Schools and is author of the forthcoming book Citizen Justice: The Environmental Legacy of William O. Douglas—Public Advocate and Conservation Champion.
