Frequently Asked Questions: Faculty Scholar
Is the one-month summer salary a set amount or tethered to the fellow's salary?
Fellows will receive a summer salary equivalent to one month of their ten-month salary at their home institution, up to a maximum established by the program’s grant and budget. It is likely, then, that in some instances, support for those at the higher end of the salary spectrum will be lower than one-tenth of their actual salary.
Is the course relief a set amount or tethered to the fellow's salary?
Fellows will receive one-course teaching reduction, up to a maximum amount that is established by the program’s grant and budget. It is likely, then, that in some instances, support for those at the higher end of the salary spectrum will be lower than a full course reduction.
Could faculty scholars expect to rely on the promised research account to undertake their proposed research project?
The research account is a modest one with a limitation imposed by the program's grant and budget. It is meant to give scholars additional opportunities, but principle funding and support should still be provided by a scholar's home institution.
Is the faculty scholar position open to tenured faculty?
There are no formal requirements about rank or time since degree. However, please be advised that the focus of this program is on early-career scholars.
