"Competition Law and Global Markets"

Abstract: Competition laws are intended to protect the process of competition from restraints, and on the national level they have spread rapidly in recent years.    As markets have become increasingly global, the need for new normative arrangements on the transnational level has become increasingly obvious, but there has been little systematic analysis of the global governance issues involved.   In my new book, Global Competition: Law, Competition and Global Markets (forthcoming at OUP, March, 2010), I examine the dynamics of competition law development on the global level.   My presentation will briefly describe my findings and analysis and seek to apply – and to discover – potentially relevant social science perspectives and materials on these issues.
