World Justice Project and the ABF

The World Justice Project has assembled two international teams of scholars to conduct scholarship on the rule of law. The first team of scholars, led by two Nobel Laureates (Dr. James Heckman and Dr. Amartya Sen) and consisting of legal scholars, political scientists and economists, convened a preliminary workshop at the American Bar Foundation on November 6, 2007, in order to
lay the groundwork for its research program. Under the leadership of James Heckman and ABF Director Robert Nelson, the World Justice Group and the American Bar Foundation assembled an interdisciplinary group of leading scholars to share 2-3 page position papers and receive input from their colleagues. Additionally, the American Bar Foundation's James Heckman, Robert Nelson, and Terence Halliday have all provided scholarship that will be published before the World Justice Forum, to be held in Vienna, Austria in July 2008, and will be the subject of a plenary session there.
