Benny Agosto Jr., Patron Fellow, Receives Hispanic National Bar Association Award

March 04, 2025

Benny Agosto Jr., Patron Fellow, was named as the recipient of the Ohtli Award. The award is presented annually by the Hispanic National Bar Association and is named after the Náhuatl word for “path,” symbolizing the path that leaders like Agosto create for future generations.

The award was presented to Agosto at the 2024 Hispanic National Bar Association annual convention on September 5th at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort in the greater Washington, D.C. area. The Institute of Mexicans Living Abroad, part of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, selects an outstanding HNBA leader to receive this award each year.

Agosto is currently a managing partner at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner in Houston, where his practice focuses on representing individuals and families harmed by negligence in cases of catastrophic injuries, including chemical plant explosions, workplace accidents, wrongful death, premises liability, and product liability. He is a former president of both the Houston Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association, and he is the president and founder of the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas Foundation.
