Ellen M. Jakovic, ABF Board Member and Benefactor Fellow, Named 2024 WBA Woman Lawyer of the Year

Ellen M. Jakovic, Benefactor Fellow, was announced as the 2024 Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia (WBA) Woman Lawyer of the Year. Jakovic will be honored at the WBA/WBA Foundation Annual Dinner on May 22nd, 2024, where she will be introduced by ABF Fellow and last year’s winner, Jo-Ann Wallace.

The Woman Lawyer of the Year Award recognizes a leader who has championed change in the profession by leading by example, advocating for justice, and promoting the advancement of women in the profession. The dinner will also feature remarks from ABF Fellow and 2023-2024 WBA President Kandis Gibson.  

Jakovic is currently Of Counsel in the Antitrust Practice Group at Kirkland & Ellis, LLP. She has served the legal community in many ways, serving as the 2022-2023 President of the D.C. Bar and on the boards of many organizations like the Council for Court Excellence and the Washington Foreign Law Society. In addition to her service on the ABF Board, she served as a DC State Chair Officer for 4 years and was recognized for efforts with the 2013 ABF Fellows Outstanding State Chair Award; she also served as the National Fellows Chair from 2019-2020.
