ABF Life Fellow and Board Member Harold D. Pope III has received the 2021 Alumni Achievement Award from his alma mater, Concordia College. The award honors past graduates who have achieved career distinction in the decades following their departure, in alignment with the school’s institutional values of intellectual and ethical excellence.

Harold Pope has spent the years following his 1977 graduation establishing himself as a leader in the legal field. After obtaining his J.D. from Duke University School of Law, he gained a breadth of experience handling cases at the state and federal level for a variety of firms, most recently as Senior Counsel for Dykema Gossett.

When he is not serving with the ABF, Mr. Pope is hard at work with a variety of bar associations at the local and national levels. He is a past president of the National Bar Association, and he has put in many years with the American Bar Association on the Board of Governors, House of Delegates, Audit Committee, and Council on Racial and Ethnic Justice. Mr. Pope’s service beyond the bar includes lifetime membership with the NAACP and involvement with the Detroit Public Schools Student Motivational Program.
