Judge Rachel L. Pickering, Fellow, was named as the 2024 recipient of the Kansas Bar Association’s Diversity Award. Judge Pickering was sworn in to the Kansas Court of Appeals in late 2022 and was he first Hispanic to serve on the Court.
The Diversity Award recognizes an individual who has shown a continued commitment to diversity. The award will be presented to Judge Pickering at the KBA Annual Meeting in June.
Prior to joining the Kansas Court of Appeals, she served as a district court judge for the 3rd Judicial District, which is composed of Shawnee County. In addition to being a Fellow of the ABF, she is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association, Sam A. Crow American Inn of Court Board, and serves on the Kansas State Board of Examiners of Court Reporters.
