Kirk Watson, Texas Life Fellow, was elected and sworn in as Mayor of Austin, TX. The runoff election took place on December 13th and Watson was inaugurated on January 6th.
This is the second term for Watson, his first was from 1997-2001. He also served as a Texas State Senator from 2006-2020 and was the founding Dean of University of Houston’s Hobby School of Public Affairs.
