Michelle A. Henandez, Life Fellow, was announced as one of the 2024 Alumni Award recipients from the University of New Mexico. Hernandez was presented with the Zia Award on February 28th. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UNM.

The Zia Award specifically honors New Mexico residents with a degree from the university who have distinguished themselves in their profession or community.  Hernandez founded the Young Alumni Association, served on the UNM Presidential Search Committee, and was a board member for the Alumni Association and the UNM Medical Group.

She is currently a shareholder at Modrall Sperling in their Albuquerque office. Hernandez has served as the regional president of the Hispanic National Bar Association vice chair for the Hispanic National Cultural Center Foundation, and president of the New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association. The American Bar Association also recognized her as a part of their “100 Women Who Inspire Us.”
