Daniela Juarez (she/they/ella) is a PhD candidate at the University of Chicago in the Department of Sociology. Her research investigates how higher education institutions respond to attacks on diversity initiatives, their process in “becoming compliant,” and how these changes impact institutional members.
Juarez’s dissertation, “Becoming Compliant: Organizational Responses to Anti-DEI Attacks on Higher Education Institutions,” analyzes how organizations respond to broad and ambiguous legislation in the states of Texas, Utah, and Illinois. She utilizes interviews, publicly accessible records, and archival materials to document these changes.
Juarez received her MA in sociology from the University of Chicago, her BA in sociology from the University of Texas at Dallas, and her AA from Tyler Junior College.
