ABF Researcher

Justin Lee is a rising senior at Carnegie Mellon University majoring in Business Administration and Data Science (Economics and Statistics) with a minor in Political Science, Security, and Technology.

Lee’s past research has focused on combining statistical data with political and social analysis. As a lead researcher on projects through CMU’s Economics and Behavioral Economics Research Workshop, he has used fixed-effect regression models to examine minimum wage policy and designed experimental studies to measure hiring bias and workplace fairness. He also authored a policy analysis published through the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) on Russian and Chinese authoritarian influences in Latin America.

Lee serves as Vice President of the Delta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity and as Cofounder and Treasurer of CMU’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Lee has served as a teaching assistant for a comparative politics course at CMU. He is a member of Carnegie Mellon’s Men’s Ice Hockey team.

In the future, Lee plans to bring his background in legal research and policy analysis into the theme park and entertainment industry, with a long-term goal of pursuing executive leadership at a major park operator like Disney or Universal.

During the SURF program, Lee will work with ABF Research Professor and Professor of Sociology at Perdue University Mark C. Suchman on his new research project, Governing New Health Information Technologies: Politics, Policy, and Law.
