Professor Cynthia Nance was inducted into the Arkansas Women’s Hall of Fame in August, as a member of the 10th class of honorees. The Hall of Fame recognizes those whose have made significant contributions to the state and their respective fields and stand as positive examples for women everywhere.
Nance recently finished her second term as Dean of the University of Arkansas School of Law, a role in which she originally served from 2006 to 2011 and had returned in 2022. Her first term as dean was historic, as she became the first woman and the first person of color to lead the school in its then-82-year history.
Earlier this year, the ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar announced that Nance would be honored as the 2026 recipient of the Robert J. Kutak Award, which honors individuals who have made significant contributions to strengthening the partnership among the legal academy, the bench and the bar. She has also been honored with the Association of American Law Schools’ Ruth Bader Ginsburg Lifetime Achievement Award and the ABA’s Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award.
