Recap of the Fellows Events at the 2023 Annual Meeting

August 16, 2023

We were so happy to be able to gather Fellows together at the 2023 ABA Annual Meeting in Denver!

Our weekend started on Friday morning with the Fellows State Chair Workshop, where ABA President Mary Smith stopped by and spoke to the State Chairs.

Our Fellows CLE really kicked things off that afternoon, with a presentation from ABF Research Professor Jothie Rajah and a panel discussion featuring Judy Perry Martinez, former ABA President and World Justice Project Vice-President, Will A. Gunn, General Counsel & Vice President for Legal Affairs at the Legal Services Corporation and former Chief Defense Counsel of the DoD Office of Military Commissions, and George Freeman, Executive Director, Media Law Resource Center that was moderated by ABF Board President Jimmy Goodman. You can find the audio recording of the CLE below and pictures from the CLE here.

That evening, we had the Fellows Opening Reception at the Clyfford Still Museum where we were thrilled to see so many Fellows, both new and old, coming together to meet and celebrate their support of the ABF. Photos from the night can be found here.

We kept things going bright and early Saturday morning with the Fellows Business Breakfast, featuring a keynote from Colorado Supreme Court Justice William W. Hood, III, entitled “Restoring Faith in the Judiciary”. Photos from the event can be found here.

And as tradition, we wrapped up Fellows events on Sunday night, with the Life Fellow Champagne Toast and Fellows Sing-Along. Photos from the toast can be found here and from the Sing-along here.
