Richard E. Garriott Jr., Life Fellow, was named as the recipient of the Family Law Service Award by the Virginia State Bar Family Law Section Board of Governors. The Family Law Service Award will be presented to Garriott at the 41st Annual Family Law Seminar on April 10.
The Family Law Service Award recognizes an individual or organization that has dedicated significant time, talent, and effort to advancing family, domestic relations, or juvenile law in Virginia, whether the services are provided to Virginia legal community or directly to the citizens of Virginia.
Garriott is one of the founders of Garriott Maurer and was nominated for this award by eight attorneys, all from different firms. He served as the chair of the VSB Family Law Section Board of Governors in 2014–15 and as the president of the Virginia Bar Association in 2019.
