The award is named for the Florida Bar Foundation’s founding executive director, who was best known for guiding the foundation as it launched the nation’s first Interest on Trust Accounts (IOTA) program, which helped expand IOLTA in many states, as a funding mechanism for civil legal aid throughout the country.

He most recently founded New Equity Partners, based out of Miami, FL after years spent as the president of the Collins Center for Public Policy. He previously served as a as a Captain in the U.S. Army Special Forces (“Green Berets”) in Vietnam and as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division.
