Stacy Leeds, Arkansas Fellow, Named as Dean of Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law

Stacy Leeds, Arkansas Fellow, was announced as the dean of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law on November 10th, 2022. She will assume the position on February 1st, 2023.

Professor Leeds joined Arizona State University (ASU) in 2021, as the Foundation Professor of Law and Leadership at ASU, where she teaches in the Indian Legal Program. In addition to serving as Dean, she will also be the first to serve as the Willard H. Pedrick Dean’s Chair.

Prior to her move to ASU, she was the first Indigenous woman in the U.S. to become a law school dean, specifically at University of Arkansas School of Law. In addition to being the dean, she also served as vice chancellor for economic development. Professor Leeds is an elected member of the American Law Institute and a recipient of the American Bar Foundation’s Spirt of Excellence Award. She is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and has served as a Cherokee Nation Supreme Court Justice.
