Susan M. Gallagher, Minnesota Fellow, was named as the 2022 John D. Levine Distinguished Service Award winner by the Volunteer Lawyers Network, based in Minneapolis, MN. She was presented with the award at the Riverfront Celebration in September. Susan was chosen for the award based on her volunteer representation of clients through the Hennepin County Volunteer Lawyers Network.

The Volunteer Lawyers Network provides civil legal services to low-income people through volunteer attorneys. The organization’s mission is to protect and promote the basic human needs of people in poverty through the power of legal volunteers. Susan has been a volunteer attorney for Volunteer Lawyers Network since 2003 and past Chair of the VLN Family Law Committee.

Susan is a family law attorney and owner of Gallagher Law Office, LLC. She serves on the Minnesota Women Lawyer’s Advisory Board, is an emeritus member of the Minnesota Association for Justice Board of Governors and the Executive Board of Minnesota Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Susan is a Master of the Bench and President-Elect in the Warren E. Burger American Inn of Court. Before becoming a lawyer, she worked as a registered nurse, specifically in Intensive Care Unit management, the Emergency Department and as a helicopter nurse.
