Three Fellows Selected for Law Alumni Association Awards from UNC School of Law

Three Fellows were selected for UNC School of Law’s 2024 Alumni Association Awards. The three are Elizabeth L. “Betty” Quick, Robert A. “Bob” Wicker, and Professor John V. Orth, all of whom are Life Fellows of the ABF.

Quick was most recently a partner at Womble Bond Dickinson, out of their Winston-Salem office, where her practice focused on wills, trusts, estate planning, charitable trusts, and exempt organizations. She will be presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Wicker previously served as the executive vice president, general counsel & corporate secretary for General Parts International, Inc. He also served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps, receiving the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal. He will also be receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Orth will receive the Professor S. Elizabeth Gibson Award for Faculty Excellence for embodying the outstanding qualities of integrity, legal scholarship, exemplary teaching, and commitment to service to Carolina Law and the University. During his time at the university he has taught Property, Trusts & Estates, and Legal History and authored six books and numerous articles.
