Professors Reuven Avi-Yonah, Life Fellow, and Robert Peroni, Fellow, were announced as the two recipients of the 2027 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Taxation section of the American Association of Law Schools. The award honors an individual who has had a distinguished career of teaching, service, or scholarship and celebrates the recipient’s profound impact on the field through influential scholarship, policy advocacy, outstanding service to the academy, or dedication to promoting the study of tax law, whether through educating students or mentoring emerging scholars.

Professor Avi-Yonah specializes in corporate and international taxation and has served as a consultant to the US Department of the Treasury and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. He is currently the Irwin I. Cohn Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School and has published more than 250 books and articles.
Professor Peroni specializes in federal income taxation, international taxation, natural resource taxation, and professional responsibility/legal ethics. He currently holds the Fondren Foundation Centennial Chair for Faculty Excellence at the the University of Texas School of Law. He has received teaching awards from Tulane University School of Law, George Washington University Law School, and received the Texas Exes Faculty Teaching Award.
