NADN was established in 2008 following a conference of the committees of several statewide associations and now features over 1000 members throughout the United States as of 2020. It was in 2020 that NADN announced its sister organization, the Canadian Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, after a yearlong survey with outreach to over 600 trial and defense lawyers across Canada, from more than 400 firms.

Allan Stitt is the President and CEO of ADR Chambers, which is the largest, private alternative dispute resolution service provider in the world. He has published three books: ADR For Organizations, Mediating Commercial Disputes, and Mediation: A Practical Guide and is the Editor-in-Chief of the LexisNexis ADR Practice Manual. Allan has been awarded the Ontario Bar Association Award of Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution and was awarded the 2022 Windsor Law Dual JD Distinguished Alumni Award.
