The Kentucky Bar Foundation will be honoring two Fellows of the ABF at their upcoming awards dinner. This is the first time that the Chief Justice Minton Award Dinner has taken place and will feature the first presentation of the Minton Award.

The night will honor two Fellows, as Chief Justice John D. Minton, Jr. is being recognized for his career and legacy – including his work to improve the legal system and make it more accessible and efficient for all Kentuckians. During Minton’s time as chief justice he guided the judicial system through the 2008 recession and the COVID-19 pandemic, including investments in court technology to enhance access to the justice system, such as bringing e-filing at the trial and appellate court level to all Kentucky counties.

The inaugural Minton Award honoree is Charles E. English, Sr., who will be honored for his contributions to the legal community. The Minton award seeks to recognize an attorney in the 2nd Judicial District who embodies Minton’s character, professionalism and commitment to promoting and advancing fair and impartial justice in the state. English is a founding partner of English, Lucas, Priest and Owsley, specializing in business law, including banking, business and estate litigation. He also has been a member of the nominating committees for both the Kentucky Supreme Court and the Kentucky Court of Appeals.
