Daniel “Dan” J. Woods, Patron Fellow, Honored with Founder Award by Uncommon Good

June 17, 2025

Dan Woods, Patron Fellow, was honored by Uncommon Good with their Founder Award. Uncommon Good is a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty through transformative programs. Woods helped found the organization in 2000, served as its Board President for the first 10 years of its existence, continued on the board after stepping down, and remains on its Advisory Board.

Uncommon Good has programs such as Medicine for the Economically Disadvantaged (MED), Connect to College and the Community Alliance for Urban Sustainable Agriculture. Woods accepted the award at the organization’s 25th-anniversary celebration in March of this year.

Woods is currently a partner at Musick, Peeler & Garrett, out of their Los Angeles office. He is most well-known for representing the Log Cabin Republicans in the well-publicized “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” trial. He has authored many articles and, for 20 years, authored the annual update to the California Continuing Education of the Bar’s three-volume treatise, California Civil Procedure During Trial.
