July 22, 2022

Ellen Jakovic, District of Columbia Benefactor Fellow was sworn in as the D.C. Bar’s 51st president on June 23th, 2022 at the D.C. Bar Celebration of Leadership.  Prior to the Celebration, the President’s Reception took place where a record-breaking $1.23 million was raised for the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center. The reception serves to honor the D.C. Bar’s incoming president and raise funds to support the Pro Bono Center.

Ms. Jakovic is of counsel in Kirkland’s Antitrust Practice Group. Prior to 2021, Ellen was a partner and headed the Firm’s Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act (HSR) filing practice.

In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for American Bar Foundation, Ms. Jakovic has served on the governing boards of the D.C. Bar, DC Bar Foundation, the Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC), and the Washington Foreign Law Society. She also serves on the Board of the Council for Court Excellence, and is a past president of The Barristers, the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia, and the Women’s Bar Association Foundation. She received the BADC’s Honorable Annice M. Wagner Pioneer Award in 2014, and its Lawyer of the Year Award in 2019.
