Jerome I. “Jerry” Braun, California Life Fellow and founding partner of Farella Braun + Martel LLP, was named the 2020 recipient of the Bill Edlund Award for Professionalism in the Law, in recognition of his outstanding legal practice and service to the community. The award, which was jointly established by the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society and the Northern District Court Historical Society, is dedicated in memory of William (“Bill”) Edlund, a lawyer of sterling character and unquestioned integrity, whose practice met the highest standards of the legal profession, and who served the legal community through his membership in numerous organizations, including many years of service on the Boards of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society, and the Northern District Court Historical Society.

The recipient of the award is chosen competitively from a large pool of nominees, and the criteria for the award are: demonstrated excellence as a lawyer both in written and oral advocacy; civility; commitment to the legal profession; and leadership in the community.
