September 12, 2025

Sweet’s goal during her presidency is to focus on membership by working to reach members of the legal profession who are not aware of the benefits and resources available to them through the NY State Bar. She also mentioned establishing a task force to research and recommend how best to protect and sustain New York’s Medical Indemnity Fund, a fund for children who have experienced neurologic deficits in the context of alleged medical malpractice.

Sweet is currently a partner at Gibson, McAskill & Crosby, where her practice has focused on complex medical malpractice actions, legal malpractice actions and claims against long-term care facilities. She was President of the Bar Association of Erie County from 2012 to 2013, and she is a member of both the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association and the Defense Trial Lawyers of Western New York.
