Mark Merritt, Life Fellow, was honored with the North Carolina Bar Association’s Advocate award. This award is the highest honor that’s given by the North Carolina Bar Association’s Litigation section and Merrit is only the 15th recipient of the award.

The award honors litigators who have high ethical standards, possess great skill and ability, demonstrate commitment to the highest level of service and to their clients, and exhibit respect of and love for the law. The recipients pro bono and community service work are also considered when they select the award winner.

Mr. Merritt is currently an attorney at Robinson Bradshaw where his practice covers a broad range of business-related litigation including antitrust, complex and class action, and shareholder litigation. He has previously served as president of both the Mecklenburg County Bar and the North Carolina State Bar. In his community, he previously served as the vice chancellor and general counsel for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2016-18 and currently serves as a regional representative for the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges.
