Norman M. Powell, Patron Fellow, has been elected to a one-year term as Chair of the American Bar Association’s 30,000-member Business Law Section. Powell is currently a partner at Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor.
The Section is one of the ABA’s largest, providing education, resources, and leadership opportunities for business lawyers nationwide while advancing the development and improvement of business law. As chair, Powell will help guide the Section’s initiatives, publications, and programming over the coming year.

His practice focuses on alternative entities, secured transactions, and large, sophisticated financing matters involving Delaware entities. Powell previously served as Senior Fellow and Executive Director of the Institute for Law & Economics at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. He is also an elected member of the American Law Institute and a former president of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.
