Ava Roots is a rising senior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, where she is double majoring in History and Sociology of Law, Criminology, & Justice. She is interested in policy around schools and how they navigate discipline. At the University of Minnesota Population Center, Roots is working on updating digitized census records. She also serves as a representative on the University of Minnesota’s Campus Safety Committee and teaches speech and debate at a local high school. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, drying wildflowers, and exploring the great outdoors. This summer, Roots will be working with ABF Research Professor Laura Beth Nielsen on her projects concerning True Crime podcasts and Title IX on college campuses.
