Professor Nsabimana will join the ABF in September 2025
Natacha Nsabimana (she/her) is a Research Professor at the American Bar Foundation and an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Chicago. Her research and teaching interests include law and subjectivity, postcolonial critique, musical movements and the cultural and political worlds of African peoples on the continent and in the diaspora.
Nsabimana’s book manuscript examines the everyday aftermath of violence in post-genocide Rwanda. It explores the ways in which the 1994 genocide against Tutsi occupies the spatial memory of the country’s landscape and the kinds of individual and national narratives that such memory allows, and disavows.
Nsabimana was selected as the Princeton Institute for Advanced Studies Fellow in the Social Sciences for the 2023–24 academic year.
