Professor Mario Barnes, National Fellows Chair-Elect and Life Fellow, began his term as the President of the Law & Society Association. His term began following the LSA Annual Meeting in Chicago in May.
The Law and Society Association is an interdisciplinary scholarly organization that focuses on analyses of law across multiple disciplines and social contexts. In addition to serving as a connection for sociolegal scholars from around the world, LSA also publishes the Law and Society Review quarterly.
Professor Barnes is currently the Chancellor’s Professor of Law at UC Irvine, having returned to the school in spring 2022 after serving as the Toni Rembe Dean and Professor of Law at the University of Washington School of Law from 2018 to 2021. In 2023, the Fellows honored him as a co-recipient of the Fellows Outstanding Scholar Award with Kaaryn Gustafson.
