Recap of the Fellows Events at the 2025 ABA Annual Meeting

August 19, 2025

The Fellows events kicked off with the Fellows CLE Friday morning, featuring a panel moderated by past ABA President Deborah Enix-Ross and a discussion with ABF Affiliated Research Professor Aziz Z. Huq and Professor David M. Driesen, Professor Emeritus at the Syracuse University College of Law, titled “Safeguarding Democracy.”  The session offered a compelling exploration of the pressing threats facing democracy today, as well as the evolving strategies and efforts to protect the rule of law. You can find the audio recording of the CLE and photos below.

After a day of section meetings, expert sessions and a variety of CLE’s, Fellows came together at the Fellows Opening Reception at Malaparte against the backdrop of incredible city views—including the iconic CN Tower—guests enjoyed lively conversation over cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live jazz music. Photos from the night can be found below.

The Fellows Business Breakfast on Saturday morning had a full agenda as Fellows celebrated outgoing State Chairs, thanked Frank X. Neuner, Jr. for his time as the National Fellows Chair, voted on bylaw changes, and heard from Ronald S. Flagg, President of the Legal Services Corporation. Legal Services Corporation is the largest funder of civil legal aid in the United States and has distributed more than 90% of its total funding to 132 independent nonprofit legal aid programs, protecting the promise of equal justice for all.
