The Daniel K. Inouye Trailblazer Award is NAPABA’s lifetime achievement award and is the organization’s highest honor. It seeks to recognize the outstanding achievements, commitment, and leadership of lawyers who have paved the way for the advancement of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) attorneys.

Marvin S. C. Dang is currently the managing member of the Law Offices of Marvin S. C. Dang, a five-member firm that focuses on creditors’ rights, lobbying, governmental relations, legislation, real estate transactions, estate planning, and probate. He is also a partner at Nelson & Kennard and co-manages the Hawaii office. Dang is the first Asian American and first Hawaiian attorney to serve as an ABA officer, having been elected in 2023 as Secretary.

Dean Lily Yan Hughes, Fellow, is currently the Assistant Dean at Syracuse University College of Law, where she oversees strategy and operations for the Admissions & Financial Aid Office, the Marketing & Communications Office, the Office of Career Services, and SU Abroad. She previously worked as Chief Legal Officer, among other roles, for Arrow Electronics and Public Storage. Hughes is currently the Chair of DirectWomen, a national nonprofit that works to increase the representation of women lawyers on corporate boards.
