Featured Keynote: “Are We Meeting Our Pledge of ‘Justice for All’: the Current Status of Access to Civil Justice” with Helanie M. Barnett (Chair, New York State Permanent Commission on Access to Justice; Past President, Legal Services Corporation; and Recipient of the ABF Fellows Outstanding Service Award in 2016.)

Helaine M. Barnett has devoted her entire professional career to the provision of civil legal assistance to low income individuals and families, and in the pursuit of equal access to justice, as an attorney with the Legal Aid Society for 37 years  (the last ten as head of its Civil Division) as Former President of the Legal Services Corporation, as Chair of the New York State Permanent Commission on Access to Justice, and as Founder of Legal Hand. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the New York State Bar Association Gold Medal, the ABA Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement, the New York Law Journal Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Fellows Outstanding Service Award. She will discuss recent developments in seeking justice for all.
