In this article, Susan Shapiro details the results of an extensive sociologic study of the most difficult conflict of interest cases that practicing lawyers encounter in their work. Based on interviews with 128 firms across Illinois, Shapiro explains her learnings on how firms seek to identify, evaluate, and resolve conflicts of interest across a broad range of legal specializations.
