Minnesota Fellow Mary R. Vasaly

July 7, 2008, Fellows in the news, Minnesota Lawyer

Mary Vasaly is no newcomer to the role of leader, having previously served as president of Minnesota Women Lawyers. Tomorrow she officially takes the helm of the Hennepin County Bar Association, accepting the reins from outgoing president Sonia Miller-Van Oort.

Vasaly sees professional activities, pro bono work and community involvement as part of being a lawyer. They are also opportunities to work with other lawyers to achieve something positive - something good for the profession, good for clients and good for access to justice, she said in a recent interview with Minnesota Lawyer associate editor Michelle Lore. Vasaly also said she intends to focus her year as president of the state's largest county bar association on issues like court funding and the integrity of the judicial election process.
